Art of the day:

Pictured: Satsuki Yatoji from X/1999 a CLAMP manga. A very strange series, sometimes extremely graphic, about the apocalypse. Satsuki (and the plot) basically plays off the concept of “The Beast” in the bible, and the seven headed dragon – except its divided between two sides. One party to save the earth, the other to destroy it. Or so I remember. Satsuki completely embeds herself in technology, and has a relationship with her system also named The Beast. Satsuki loathes humans to the point where in the story she uses her “super hacker” abilities to kill them. Many people today invest their identities and well being within technology to this extent with AI, social media, or aim to abuse its power to harm others. For some, it’s a struggle to keep up with its rapid evolution. Me? I’m still learning every day about network connections, storage, media types. Trying to keep things in order and archive them while making them accessible. There’s a siege, and I’m building a castle. Sometimes I’d rather just plug myself in and interface directly to get my info, setting up this stuff is hard…
Song of the day:
Porter Robinson’s “Virtual Self” is already 7 years old. The video definitely is an homage to Lain, and Porter has used Boas opening to Lain – Duvet, to make his own mix as well. With the strongest push to AI being forced into Windows ever, it’s time to learn *nix and it’s going to be hard for me. I’ve used it before, but modern Linux based systems flip flop between config files, terminal settings, or gui and it leaves me in a web of confusion. I know all the words and what they mean, it’s closer to not knowing order of operations, prerequisites, and ends up with me backtracking several times over to figure something out.
Thought of the day:
My husband jokes that phones are “demon tablets”, and its true. These screens are soul sucking and we lose hours and hours of time to just… doing whatever on them. I for one, am glad I’ve been touching grass lately – and more to the point, not spending those long hours on something as fruitless as an MMO. I’m glad to be casual on the gaming front now, but I’ve got to focus on learning *nix now now, locking down, getting my shit together and securing my digital library… and my own security.
