Garden Walk 10/12/25

Garden Walk 10/12/25

It feels like fall is finally here. After a very long week (illness struck the workplace) I was tired, the mornings were chilly and draining, and let go of the blog. Escaping into some video games, old habits and bad moods crept up and lead to late nights and sleeping in. “Don’t force it” I was told. Since yesterday, I thought about it. I think I disagree. For someone like me, routine is important. If I set out to do something, I need to keep up and keep doing that thing. I can set the ball down for a moment, but I can’t just drop it. So even though it was a late morning, it was a bit colder, I was tired, the walk went on – and I was at the gardens much longer than usual today. As a result I have many more photos (and some video!) to share. Now let’s see if I can’t make browsing a bit easier by setting up some proper gallery navigation. I’ll try, anyway.

With that in mind – I think most will pass the words and just skip to viewing. So for context, this weekend is the Jack-O-Lantern festival beginning. Some themes going into the walk today were to capture change, and decay. Some plants and vines are flourishing, others quickly fading. Many plants starting to turn an orange and deep red hue, and the wind blowing would bring down leaves…. sorry I am trying to hold it steady. The lake was clearer, more birds and fish were around, and the chipmunks were incredibly bold today – darting around and walking right up to us. If I had a nut in my hand I could have handed it to one of them. Enjoy the video first, then the arrow keys will let you navigate the gallery. You should be able to zoom somehow I think… er, well, lets hope it all loads at least.

Who is making all that ruckus anyway!!!

my know it all husband guessed it right away as some kind of “katydid” thing
